What is CPGET?

Full form of CPGET: Common Post Graduate Entrance Test

This exam is conducted by Osmania University, Hyderabad for PG admissions in Telangana state universities.

Purpose & Scope

This exam is for students who want admission in Post Graduation (PG) courses in Telangana universities:

• MA / M.Sc / M.Com / M.Lib.I.Sc / M.Ed / M.J.M.C. / M.S.W.
• 5-year Integrated PG Courses (like M.Sc Chemistry, MA Economics etc.)

Eligibility Criteria

✅ Qualification:

• UG (Undergraduate) final year or pass-out students can apply.
• Minimum 40% marks (for most courses), some subjects have category-wise relaxation.

Subject Match:

The PG course you want should be related to your UG subject. For example:

• MA English requires BA English
• M.Sc Chemistry requires B.Sc Chemistry

• Mode: Online (CBT – Computer Based Test)

Counselling & Seat Allotment

Admission happens through a centralized counselling process:

• Seat allotment based on:
  • CPGET Rank
  • Category (OC/BC/SC/ST)
  • Local/Non-Local
  • Availability
• Document verification
• Final admission confirmation

Cutoff & Competition

• Cutoff varies for each subject & university.
• For General category in top PG courses (like MA English, M.Sc Maths, M.Com), top 200 rank is considered safe.
• For OU, high score is essential.
